Have you ever made homemade bubbles before? This recipe is really simple and requires just a few ingredients. Also, if you watch the video at the end, you’ll see how we made our own homemade bubble and wands. FYI, Making your own bubble wands equals to bigger and better bubbles!!
Making homemade bubbles is also a really amazing science experiment. There are so many questions to be asked and answered such as Why are bubbles round? What’s inside of bubbles? Can sharp objects pop a bubble? How can a sharp object such as a nail not pop a bubble? (hint, if the nail is dipped in the bubble solution and then poked into the bubble, it won’t pop!!).
Materials
Bubble Recipe
- 6 cups of water
- Large Bowl
- 1 cup of dishsoap
- 1 tablespoon of Glycerin
- A spoon for mixing
Wand Materials
- 2 Rules/Wands/Sticks with a hole on the top
- Twine
- A washer (needed for the weight)
Instructions For Homemade Bubbles
- Start with 6 cups of water in the bowl.
- Add 1 cup of dish soap into the water.
- Add 1 tablespoon of glycerin into the water.
- Mix gently.
- Let it sit for a few minutes. Give a gentle stir before you use it. The longer I let it sit, the better and bigger the bubbles!
- Have fun blowing bubbles!
Instructions For Bubble Wand
- Set the two wands on the table.
- Measure how long you want the twine to be (I did about 24 inches) and cut.
- Tie one end of the twine to the first wand.
- Tie the midpoint of the twine to the second wand.
- Thread the washer in the twine and set it to the center.
- Tie the other end of the twine back to the first wand. It should form a triangle with the weight on the bottom (watch the video below for a visual)
