Today we are learning about the parts of speech. I gathered our sentence builder, a few toys, and made Flashcards with nouns, verbs and adjectives written on them. We first went over nouns. I broke down the nouns into three categories: person, place and thing and presented the box of toys to my youngest. He is a kinesthetic/tactile learner and so these types of activities help him learn best. So his job was to correctly place the toys in the correct noun category. He really enjoyed this!

Next up, adjectives and verbs. I used our sentence builder since it already came with words and just flipped them over in the box. It’s pretty obvious all the blue words are verbs and green words are adjectives. So, I had my son act out the action words as he read them aloud, and then he created sentences with the adjectives, which he did verbally.
