FREE Easter Egg Template and Tape Resist Art Activity

This Easter, try completing this really cool tape resist art using the FREE egg template below. Just a few supplies are needed to make this beautiful piece of art work that’s unique, holiday themed, and fun!

  • Materials:
    • Canvas or Cardstock Paper
    • A variety of paint colors
    • Paintbrushes
    • Pencil
    • Black marker or Black Paint
    • Water for cleaning brushes between colors (we used a big pot to rinse and also let the brushes soak in after)
    • Tissue (for wiping brushes between colors)
    • Painter’s Tape
    • Optional: Glitter, confetti, paper squares, etc.
  • Directions:
    1. Print out the FREE egg template here.
    2. Cut out the egg template and trace the outline on a canvas or cardstock paper. (Or skip this step entirely and paint right on the template!)
    3. Using tape, make criss-crosses or divide the egg into 4 pieces- the design is up to you!
    4. Paint the open areas. Let dry.
    5. Carefully peel off the tape.
    6. Paint the outline of the egg in black or use a permanent marker to trace the outline.
    7. You can leave the white areas in the egg white, or add glitter or confetti to make it more colorful. You can also paint the background or leave it white.
