What Is Coding?

Coding is basically a language that is used to tell computers how to behave and what to do.

What Are The Benefits Of Learning To Code?

Learning to code will help children of this digital age to grasp technology as we all are seeing how fast and amazing technology is growing to be.

A few benefits of coding include:

-better communication

-problem solving

-creativity

-computational thinking

-structural thinking (how things work)

-decompositional thinking (breaking down bigger problems into smaller ones to solve).

How Can I Teach My Child To Code?

There are quite a few websites you can visit to learn more about coding for kids and that are actually fun for them!

Scratch, Jr. and Code.org, are the two that we have used and are really cool to learn with. There are others like code monster, khan academy, and Tynker.

You can even learn coding through games (no screens) such as this Code and Go Mouse Robot and My First Coding and Computer Science Kit.

So, I made two versions of this game- a colorful version as well as a black and white copy.

Included are instructions, a blank coding game board, and game pieces. Print out your favorite option and set the instructions and board game aside.

For the game pieces, I like to use this tool for easy cutting but if you have only scissors available that’s perfect!

As you cut the pieces out in the black and white version, you can place all the arrows in a pile and place them according to position as you use them.

For the colored version, keep each color separate and in a particular direction so it’s easy to place the positions when you play.
