The only downside is that the glow sticks only last for a few hours, but that’s fine- there’s like 5 or so in a pack.

How Do You Make Glow In The Dark Jars?

There are several ways you can make your jar glow in the dark. There’s glow in the dark paint, or glue, or sticks. I opted for glow in the dark sticks as it made this a really simple and easy craft that didn’t make a whole lot of mess.

How Do You Make A Creepy Halloween Jar?

You only need a few items- glow in the dark sticks, a fake spider web or cotton balls, a plastic jar, and Halloween trinkets and toys such as spiders, bats, skull rings, ghosts, etc.

What Is A Glow Stick Made Of?

There are two tubes- the outer plastic tube and an inner, smaller glass tube. In the inner glass tube, it has a solution called hydrogen peroxide. In the plastic tube itself, there is a dye called phenyl oxalate ester as well as a fluorescent solution. When you bend and shake the plastic tubing, the inner glass tube breaks as well. When the solutions combine, it reacts together and now you have a fluorescent light or glow sticks.

You should not tamper with the tubing and expose the chemicals inside. Although the packaging says it is non-toxic, it is still chemicals and can cause irritation and what not. Not to mention the tiny glass particles inside. So if you do happen to break open your glow stick, handle it with great care, wash your hands immediately, and do NOT ingest or touch body parts such as eyes and mouth. See the product warnings before using glow sticks.
